Abaqus Standard is a finite element analysis program which is ideal for static and low-speed dynamic events and will give highly accurate stress solutions appropriate to this environment. Various examples of applications of this include steady-state rolling of a tyre, sealing pressure in a gasket joint, and crack propagation in a composite airplane fuselage.
One of the strengths of Abaqus Standard is that within one simulation, the user can analyse a model both in the frequency and time domains. An example of this is a simulation of an engine cover which includes sophisticated gasket performance. Various simulations can be performed after the mounting analysis, which might include the pre-stressed natural frequencies of the cover, or the engine induced vibrations.
An analysis that starts in Abaqus/Explicit can be continued in Abaqus/Standard. This flexibility provided by the integration between Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit allows the relevant parts of the simulation to be in Abaqus/Standard and Abacus/Explicit. An example of this is that part of the analysis can be in steady state whilst parts of the model are highly transient.
