Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI)

For years modeling the way in which structures interact with surrounding fluids has been something of a dream. Recent advances in both software architecture and computing power mean that simulations of fully coupled systems are now a realistic possibility.

FSI simulations can be carried out in a number of ways. Firstly the CEL functionality inside Abaqus can be used, but if more adventurous flow simulations are required Abaqus CFD or Star CCM+ can provide the fluid dimension of the problem, interacting with the structural solver through the Abaqus Co-simulation engine.
