Electromagnetics simulation and Abaqus

Pic_1Having spent a few years designing superconducting magnets, using various simulation tools, I guessI’m somewhat surprised at the lack of enquiries we have had about electromagnetic simulation, especially with rotating machinery.

Although I am probably a diehard, and like the internal combustion engine for my daily transportation, there is obviously an ever increasing use of electric and hybrid technologies in the automotive world, and would like to think that there is lots of development work going on in this area.

I could be missing something, but I get the feeling that the technology itself is not being developed at the same rate as alternatives like fuel cells. Anyway, I was looking for some information for a customer, and I did find a number of interesting papers, one of which was about cogging torque in permanent magnet machinery which is available here:
